Gary has a strong family background in Masonry. He can trace the history of Masonry in both his mother’s and father’s families for generations. His maternal grandfather, who was a Master Mason for 60 years, a 33rd Degree Mason and Master of his Lodge twice, was able to attend Lodge the night that Gary became a Master Mason. He has many fond memories of his fraternal grandfather as a member of the Oriental Band at Melha Temple in Springfield, MA. His maternal grandfather was a member of Afifi Temple in Tocoma, WA. Gary knew from an early age what a Mason and what a Shriner was, and what they meant to the community from the examples of the men that he admired in his life. Gary received the Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award in 2007. He served as Worshipful Master of Snellville Lodge # 99 in 2008. Most recently, Gary served as Director of Works at the Snellville Lodge. Gary has always been involved in the State Alarm Association. He is a founding Board Member and served as Treasurer from 2000 – 2007.

Being a Master Mason and a Shriner is a huge part of Gary’s life and his family’s life. It is a history that has carried on for generations and that he hopes will continue for generations to come. Gary feels that the two organizations are so important to the community and to enriching the lives of the men who belong and their families. Gary is very honored to be part of both of these fraternities.
